from awareness to passion
The creators of olli, Leonard and Thys' awareness of nutrition and its effects on the body and the development of the mind, was first instilled during their practice of martial arts and natural health. This soon became a passion. As an organic buyer, Leonard travelled to the corners of the earth visiting organic farms - a job he loved. Thys came from an engineering background, was extensively involved in sustainable living projects, and ran his own natural health clinic.

Leonard and his wife, Melissa started on a journey with the birth of their first child, whereby they wholeheartedly embraced a choice of natural, home-based, child-birth, breastfeeding only for the first six months, and then introducing organic fruit and vegetables, with continued breastfeeding. With their background and knowledge, they knew that the most certain way of ensuring their children received wholesome pesticide-free foods was in carefully choosing only certified organic fresh produce. These they prepared themselves. They now have 3 young children, all having been brought up on their view of organic living.
The idea of olli was first conceived in 2001, at the time of the birth of their first child.

factory of highest standards
In January 2006, trials were completed at the new olli factory, which is considered among the best of its kind, for its size in the world - technologically as well as from a food hygiene point of view. It has an elaborate and detailed HACCP system in place, organic certification and approval by the Kosher and Halaal authorities.

As conscious fathers Thys & Leonard will in no way compromise the health of anyone's children and wanted the factory to be the very best it could be. Thys is at the helm of the factory production. It is a small controlled line employing about fifteen people per shift.

Quality is closely monitored and bottling is done in a high-care, ultra-hygienic area. Every bottle is physically checked for quality. In addition, a variety of samples are drawn from every batch, are incubated and are then sent for exhaustive microbiological analysis
